New Glass Panel Front Door

Good morning and happy Monday! I mentioned in this post a few weeks ago that we had pulled the trigger on a new glass panel front door. It arrived last week and I'm in love!!

We worked with Pella Windows and Doors to create this customized door. The original door that the builder installed was also a Pella door. They already had the door/window dimensions from our home in their system from the original build. This made it easy because their were no measurements involved.

We went to the showroom to look at our options. We knew we wanted to keep the door black in color (it is black on both sides) and we wanted 3/4 light. Pella offered 3/4 with 8 panels which was perfect.

The door was ordered and delivered with about a 3 week turn around time. We saved money on install by having Steve remove the old door and install the new one. This step did not take long as we already had everything pre-drilled. We reused the hinges from the original door.

Not only does the door look great from the street and totally bumped up our curb appeal, but the light that pours into the inside of the house makes this sun loving girl very, very happy!

We also reused the hardware from the original door to save money.

This door upgrade cost us a total of around $750. What a difference a door makes!

So many neighbors have commented on the door! It really makes SUCH a difference when you look at our curb appeal!  Completing small projects with a big impact are so worth it to us! xo

    1. Loving the light so much. The porch makes the foyer dark, so I'll take all the light I can get!

  6. Your new door is beautiful! I'd love to have one just like that. Our house has a gorgeous front door but it's not the style I would choose. I'd prefer more glass like yours to let in the light. Money well spent!

  8. Love your door! Wondering if it is fiberglass by chance as I don't have enough cover for a wood door. Also wondering about the finish. Did you do it yourself? I am having a hard time finding a black finish. Is it stain? Or paint?

Thanks in advance if your able to help with the details!
