K-12: School File Folders

I have seen so many school organizational folders floating around on Pinterest and knew I wanted to make one for each of my kids.  My oldest is starting Kindergarten in a few weeks (eek!), which was the perfect motivation to get this project completed!

This was a super simple project and once you have all your supplies, it takes no time at all to complete.  I bought plastic tubs with lids at Walmart for about $7/each.  I also purchased hanging file folders and manilla folders.  I used a label maker to print out the grade/year and placed them on the manilla folder.  I also used some stickers to embellish the front (purchased at Hobby Lobby).

After getting all of the labels adhered, I assembled the folders, and added their names to the front.  The dark file folders and black lids were making them look a little drab, so I decided to add a little punch of color.

There is plenty of room to grow with these tubs, so storage space will not be an issue.

I also plan to add the teacher’s name, the school name, and ask them what they want to be when they grow up (for each year of school) on the front of the manilla folder.

I’m not a “saver” by nature, but I know these will be great for storing report cards, school pictures, mementos, certificates, and a few special items they make throughout the school year.

It is so mind blowing to see the years 2025-26 and 2026-27 as their senior years of high school-CRAZY!
