I volunteered to take treats up to D & K’s preschool this week. The teachers are prepping for the kids to come back next week, and I thought I would try something new to take to them.
I recently “pinned” these granola bars and they were easy to make and turned out really tasty! Peanut butter, m&m’s, oatmeal, brown sugar…hard to go wrong, really. 🙂
Homemade Chewy Granola Bars (original recipe found here)
2 1/2 cups quick rolled oats
1/2 cup Rice Krispies
1/2 cup mini M & M candies
1/2 cup chopped peanuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
Combine all ingredients and press into a greased 9 x 9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. It is important to let the bars cool for about 5 minutes, then score the top, then let them cool an additional 15 minutes, then cut and serve.
These are chewy and delicious and would be fun to send in your kids’ lunch boxes!!

Looks interesting! Those Quaker chewy granola bars are so expensive, so I'll give this a try! Pinned it.
These look delish, and my kids love Quaker chewy granola bars, so I am going to pin this to make soon. After all, everything homemade is better! Thanks for sharing.

hmmm… not sure where I went wrong. I reviewed the ingredients and stepsmto double check but my bars did not end up as bars but as a crumbky mess 🙁 they still taste good though

I'm so sorry this happened! I hate that! The only thing I can think of would be to bake them a little longer so they firm up a bit more??
