Kid’s Artwork Display System

Probably like most of you, my home is constantly being inundated with artwork, certificates, drawings, and projects that my kids are hard at work making (and are so proud of).  I just love ages 3 and 4 and all that comes with it, including the adorable “art”.  I am not a huge saver, only saving one or two things from each year of preschool, but I do love to enjoy their work for a little while.  I love my kids, but I don’t love clutter :)

I decided to come up with a way I could enjoy the artwork for a little while and quickly change it out as I please.  I knew I wanted this place to be in the mudroom.  We use this room so often and it seemed suited for “kid stuff” since we already have little shoes and little backpacks and little sweatshirts hanging from all of the hooks.

The display system includes only two items:  tension rods and curtain clips.  Super easy, inexpensive, and takes about 2 minutes to set up.  For reference, the large door on the right is off the garage, and the door on the left is to the bathroom.

I purchased the black tension rods at Hobby Lobby.  They are less than $4 each, and I bought them all when they were half off.  I already had the curtains clips from my shower curtain curtains in our old house (also from Hobby Lobby).  Total for this art display cost me less than $10.

The reality is that I have small kids, and I love the whimsy the artwork brings to the space.  And the kids absolutely love having a place to display their masterpieces!!

  1. I love having the kids' art on display and this is such a great idea for an art gallery!! Love this idea! Especially because there are no nails to hang or nail holes if you take them down!

  2. Looks great! I have a similar system, not for my child's artwork, but for hanging some of my scrapbooking supplies. :)

  3. What a great idea!!!! I may have to head over to H.L. soon!

  4. I have seen this before and LOVE the idea. I can't wait to do it in my studio (when I get one)lol. So great for anything you want to hang! Found you throuh a blog hop and am now a follower!

  5. Hi Andrea! I got your question about the corn toss game. You can find the dimensions under the rules section on the link I posted: http://www.playcornhole.org/rules.shtml

My one bit of advice: avoid a textured paint! You'll want the board to be smooth for the game to work well. (Don't spray paint with oil rubbed bronze like I did, haha! Husband wasn't pleased with that and I had to redo it so the game would work. Oops!)

  6. This is such a wonderful idea!! I have so much artwork that needs to be displayed, but I keep putting it off because I haven't figured out how I want to display it in our home yet. I think I know exactly where I'm going to use this idea!! Can't wait to give it a try. I would love it if you'd link up at Off the Hook.

  7. SUPER CUTE! Crossing my fingers you'll share at my party! Saturdays at Seven!
