Another Coffee Table Makeover

I posted about the transformation of my $15 coffee table several months ago and I absolutely love it in my space.  I picked up another coffee table at Goodwill for $20, and am finally getting around to posting about it.  I received a lot of positive feedback about the dark stain and white base of my coffee table and kitchen table, so I decided to do the same for this one.  I hated to see this one go, I'm glad she went to a nice home!

I was hesitant to purchase this one, but it had great bones.  Look at those claw feet!

I'm not sure who Haley and Kyle are, but they left their autograph!

As with the last one, I used a hand sander over the top of the table to get the water stains and marker off.  I rough sanded the bottom part because it was in good shape.  After giving it a good cleaning, I used 3 coats of dark walnut stain on the top (Minwax).  I sealed the top with several coats of poly.  A couple coats of a shade of white paint I had in my stash, and a little distressing, and it was finished!

Don't be afraid of worn out tables-you can make them pretty again with a little elbow grease!

  2. Love this. You did a great job! I have been silently following you for a bit and after I saw your dinning room table makeover I decided to do the same. I haven't officially gotten around to it yet bc I am waiting to borrow my dad's electric sander which is currently not working :( I am very excited to try this, though and would have never imagined it up, so thanks for the idea!
