Dining Room Paint Color

We have now been in this house for one year, and the dining room is the last room to be touched.  It has kind of become a catch-all for items that don't have a home.  I also have been using it as a work space for making over small furniture pieces and painting some stuff for the vendor booth.

Here is what it looks like right now.  Scary, huh?

It is the first room you see when you walk in the house, so the time has come to cover up the builder cream and get started on making it pretty.  First things first, paint.  It instantly sets the tone for the rest of the room.  I was going to go with a salmon/coral color, but after some discussion with my hubby, we decided to go more mainstream since we move a lot.  Every move I make in this house is slightly dictated by the fact that we will probably be selling in a few years. My mom always tells me not to live like this, but after 5 moves, this has become my reality!

I decided to go with a blue (obsessed, right?), but a much brighter, more true blue than I have used in other places in my house.  After doing a little research and getting a few samples, I decided on Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore.  I recently read somewhere that every paint color in your home should be able to exist in any other room in your house.  I think this color is a perfect fit for our taste and this home.  Of course this paint chip looks nothing like it does on my walls!

I am lucky because I have two eager beavers always waiting for their turn to paint!

I have company this weekend, but will hopefully get the rest of the paint up next week!  How cute is their graffiti art?

There is also a large niche on one of the walls in the dining room.  I thought about painting this a different color to highlight the architecture, but now I am siding towards wide stripes in the same color, using different sheens.  I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there!  More pics to come!
