Front Stoop: Switch-A-Roo

I recently blogged about my solution to my empty front stoop here.  When my mom was here visiting, we popped in to Goodwill and I found an old bar stool that would fit the space better.  It was $6.99-score!  I was going to paint it, but ended up liking it as is...

Because I have a brown brick house, and the chair is brown, I needed something with a pop of color that took up a lot of space on the chair.  My mom and I found this flower basket at Home Depot for a good price ($12, I think).

I added a little burlap bow to one of the legs for a touch of sweetness!

I decided to just move the white distressed chair to one of my front flower beds for a bit of height and interest.  I tied a burlap bow, added a geranium, and a little bird to finish it off.

Not quite sure what the old chair obsession is, but I love the instant charm and how they look from the street!

  1. so cute!!! our goodwill doesn't have cute stuff like that! I love old chairs also!

  2. You can find the most amazing little treasures at the Goodwill! I love your sweet flower display.

  3. Hi there....visiting from Between Naps. I had to laugh when I came across your blog because I just recently did a post with unique planters from other bloggers and I just started a new themed linky party today. Todays theme happens to be light fixture/lampshade makeovers. Would love for you to link yours up.

The colors in your plants are so vibrant. I love the eclectic mix.

    Take care,

  4. That's really so cute. I love the idea of making it into a planter. I found you over at Centsational Girl's party. I am your latest follower. I would love for you to come and check out my blog and follow me back at Thanks so much.

  7. I love it! I had an old bright yellow chair that I did the same kind of idea with. But it was too bright and I stuck it in the garage with plans of re-painting but just wasn't sure. But after seeing yours, I'm back in love with the idea! I love the burlap bow too - makes it look really special!
