My mom sent me an email the other day asking if I had received the new Pottery Barn magazine. I had received it, but had not had a chance to look through it yet. She gave me the idea to try to recreate a moss letter that PB is selling for $79.
I decided to try a much smaller version of the moss letter, and while I was at it decided to try a wreath for my front door. I have spring fever and this is the perfect fix!
These are the materials I used for the both projects- an "L" for my last name, a grapevine wreath I picked up at a thrift store, and a large bag of spanish moss purchased from Hobby Lobby with 40% coupon.
I used my trusty hot glue gun to adhere the moss in several layers. There is no right or wrong way. I just tried to keep the fullness of the moss even all the way around the base. You can choose to keep it looking a little "messy" like I did, or trim the edges all the way around. I love that the moss has a bit of an Oscar the Grouch look, and I love the lime green color-so fresh and ready for spring!
I chose to do this project on my kitchen countertops. Be prepared for a mess!
I finished each of the projects off with some spring-colored ribbon I already had in my stash. I love the way these two projects turned out! Simple, homemade, and inexpensive, just the way I like it! What do you think? Will you try one? Now I need some good ideas for a kitchen table centerpiece! Send me your ideas!
